OUR STORY
Built on Precision, Started by Accident
The truth is, Blackline Laser & Woodworks started by accident—and with a little nudge from my wife. I was fascinated by the capabilities of commercial-grade laser engravers and what they could create. I kept talking myself out of buying one, even canceling my order at one point. Finally, she told me to stop overthinking and just get it. I didn't know it then, but that was the spark that started this shop.
But the foundation for Blackline was actually poured decades ago. I have been building things my entire life, starting back in high school drafting, wood, and metal shops. For 15 years, I ran my own construction company specializing in siding, doors, and windows. That decade and a half taught me exactly what it takes to deliver real quality and build trust with local customers.
When the physical toll of construction got to be too much on my knees, I had to pivot. That path eventually led me to the factory floor, where I earned my Journeyman’s card as an Ohio State Certified Tool and Die Maker. That four-year grind of schooling and on-the-job training fundamentally changed how I work. It taught me the discipline of absolute, unyielding precision.
Today, Blackline Laser & Woodworks is where all of that experience comes together. We take the rugged, hands-on craftsmanship from 15 years in construction, combine it with the micro-tolerances of a certified Tool and Die maker, and apply it to custom woodworking and industrial engraving.
Whether it’s a personalized tumbler, a custom slate coaster, or a handcrafted cedar chest, the standard in our shop remains exactly the same: measure twice, cut once, and build it right.
